Mandy Sharabani

VISUAL STORYTELLER

Mandy Sharabani (NL, 1985) graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and currently lives and works in Dordrecht.

“Mandy reveals vulnerability in a journey of untold stories”

Artist Statement

At a time when cultural preservation is vulnerable, Mandy Sharabani experiences a collective and personal urgency to preserve valuable memories shared with our previous generations.

Her inspiration comes from shared memories with her father. Generations above us are getting older and when they are no longer told, our stories get lost. By embodying the stories in tangible objects, shared memories, emotions and rituals gain value and power. Artifacts that serve as a connection between generations, for a hopeful future with rich stories.

Mandy works with a sensory approach to explore and strengthen personal memories. The application of senses is reflected in her working method in her ceramic works and her own scents to tell stories (soon online).
