Studio Mandy Sharabani
VISUAL STORYTELLER
At a time when cultural preservation is vulnerable, Mandy Sharabani experiences a collective and personal urgency to preserve valuable memories shared with our previous generations.
Her inspiration comes from shared memories with her father. Generations above us are getting older and when they are no longer told, our stories get lost. By embodying the stories in tangible objects, shared memories, emotions and rituals gain value and power. Artifacts that serve as a connection between generations, for a hopeful future with rich stories.
Mandy works with a sensory approach to explore and strengthen personal memories. The application of senses is reflected in her working method in her ceramic works and her own scents to tell stories.
She is currently exhibiting her work ‘Memory anchors’ in the group exhibition Salon der Leden 2024 at the Pictura drawing society. During the weekend of October 26/27, 2024, she will exhibit on location in the city center of Dordrecht as part of the BuitenSalon.
MEMORY ANCHORS
Tangible Memories
is a new project that is inspired by the migration history of my family. My research forms my own vulnerable journey where the unknown and forgotten history and personal stories drive my work.
